Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Dawg City ("we", "us") is built by independent developers in Casablanca, Morocco. This policy explains what data the Dawg City mobile app and dawg.city website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Plain language first; legal precision second.
What we collect
When you use the app:
- Account info — your email address and a display name when you sign up. Sign-up happens after you've completed the onboarding questionnaire (see "Anonymous accounts" below).
- Your dog's profile — name, breed, age, weight, sex, activity level, photo (optional), allergies, health conditions, vaccination status, body-condition score, and behavior history. Behavior history includes bite incidents because it materially changes the safety guidance we give you.
- Owner preferences — your training philosophy, household composition, schedule, and the time of day you prefer to train.
- App activity — training-chat messages you send and receive, journal entries (mood, training minutes, weight, notes), nutrition plans you generate, and reassessment responses.
- Crash and diagnostic data — anonymized error reports via Firebase Crashlytics, tagged with your user ID only (never your email, dog name, or message content).
Anonymous accounts
The first time you open the app, we create an anonymous Firebase account so you can use the questionnaire and see your dog's plan without giving us an email. If you sign up later, that anonymous account is upgraded to a real one and all your data carries over. If you never sign up, we delete the anonymous account and everything in it after 30 days.
How we use your data
- To run the app. Your dog's profile drives every personalized response — there's no Dawg City experience without it.
- To generate AI responses. Your dog's profile, your owner preferences, and your training-chat or nutrition-plan request are forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API through a server we control (Cloudflare Workers). Per Anthropic's API terms, this data is not stored by Anthropic and is not used to train their models.
- To send local reminders. Notification scheduling happens on your device via Android WorkManager — no notification text leaves your phone.
- To improve the app. Aggregated and anonymized usage data may inform what features we build next. We never sell your data to third parties. We do not show you ads.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored in Google's Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore database, and Storage for photos), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Our AI requests pass through Cloudflare Workers, which act as a stateless proxy — they don't store the content of your messages.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the app:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, crash reporting
- Cloudflare — Workers proxy for AI requests, plus DNS and CDN for this website
- Anthropic — receives the contents of your AI requests in real time, does not store them
Your choices
- Export. Email privacy@dawg.city and we'll send you everything we have in 30 days or less.
- Delete. Settings → Account → Delete Account. This wipes your Firestore data, Firebase Storage files, local app database, scheduled notifications, and your Firebase Auth account. The deletion runs immediately on your device and propagates to our servers within minutes.
- Notifications. Toggle reminders per dog under Settings → Notifications, or disable Dawg City notifications at the OS level.
Children
Dawg City is intended for adult dog owners. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when something material changes and bump the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you in the app.
